PERIODONTAL DISEASE AND ORAL SURGERY

Periodontal Disease or Pyorrhea is a chronic disease of the gums caused by the presence of tartar and plaque on the bottom of the gingival sulcus, which can affect one or all teeth and causes a progressive bone loss that can be so severe that it is lost teeth and teeth for lack of supporting bone.

In the first picture, we can see an apparently normal gum that comes just between the root and the crown, which is where it should go.

The second image shows the harsh reality: we have surgically removed the gum and we can see a rough root attached and therefore completely full of germs that cause a chronic progressive infection.

In the third picture, we see the root with the tartar removed and disinfected. The contrast between the second and the third image is evident.

This series of photographs shows the silent nature of periodontitis.

We put the following series of images because our patients reinforcing the idea that periodontitis is a devastating disease by oral tissues and, in the fact not being flashy and a bit unnoticed, it can cause great destruction intractable.
